They were caught after some time and her diary was handed over to Otto Frank who returned after the war. He gave the diary to be published in 1947.

Later the diary was published in 55 languages and went on to become one of the most important documents detailing the cruelties of the Nazi regime and the Anne Frank House is a spot not to be missed in Amsterdam.
